The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos said yesterday that about 1.4m Permanent Voter’s Cards had not been collected.

This is just as over five million PVCs have been collected by voters in the state. INEC had released state-by-state figures of registered voters, showing Lagos leading with 6, 570, 291 prospective voters.

The spokesman of INEC in the state, Femi Akinbiyi in a chat with our coresspondent  yesterday, said the rate of PVCs collection had improved in recent times though 1.4m PVCs were yet to be collected.

“Out of over 6.5m registered voters, we have distributed over 5m PVCs and the distribution still continues”, he said

According to him, the figures of uncollected voters are still high because of the backlog of 2014 cards and those produced from the recently concluded Continuous Voter’s Registration (CVR) exercise.

Besides, he said there are some voters who transferred or lost their PVCs, adding that collection was still ongoing at INEC offices in the 20 LGs of the state where the voters registered.
