The Nigerian Correctional Service has reported that 100 convicts who fled from the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre in Niger State have not been apprehended.
Recall that on Wednesday night, April 24, 119 convicts fled as a continuous downpour caused havoc on the Suleja detention facility.

The downpour caused significant damage to the custodial facility’s infrastructure, including a breach in the perimeter fence that allowed convicts to escape.

On Thursday, April 25, however, three more escaped prisoners were apprehended in the evening after 10 of them were seized again.

Nineteen of the 119 escapees were captured after three additional fugitives were apprehended on April 29.

The NCoS spokesperson, Abubakar Umar, stated in an interview with The Punch on Sunday that thus far, 19 escaping prisoners have been apprehended.

Umar declared that efforts are underway to apprehend the fugitive prisoners, adding that the Service would provide more information on the situation at a later time.

The representative did not, however, address why the Service had not yet released the photos and other details about the other 100 escaping prisoners.

He said, “A total of 19 fleeing inmates have been recaptured so far.”

However, it was learned that a flash notice on the website of the NCoS on Sunday evening read, “Escapees Alert: Recent Escapees list from MSCC Suleja”, but the notice didn’t open.
