No fewer than 100 applicants were caught with fake certificates in the ongoing recruitment of secondary school teachers by the Kebbi State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. The permanent secretary in the ministry, Hajiya Rafatu Hammani, said they were being investigated. She said: “We are working closely with security agencies and educational institutions to find out how they got the suspected fake results and also participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)”. The state government had approved the recruitment of 1, 700 qualified teachers and 300 auxiliary staff for the state secondary schools.
