The distribution of 11,000 free textbooks to all Senior Secondary Secondary (SSS 2) students in public schools throughout the state’s three senatorial districts has been officially started by Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State.

After the aptitude tests and oral interviews, he said that the teacher recruiting process had reached its conclusion and the final list was awaiting final clearances.

He continued by saying that the state had passed an education law giving the ministry the authority to punish any individual or organization that attempted to undermine the government’s attempts to reform education in the region.

He emphasized that the state government had demonstrated enough dedication, therefore people and organizations needed to support the government’s initiatives through its School Adoption and Mentorship Program.

However, he issued a warning to instructors and school administrators, stressing that the textbooks should not be made available to pupils for purchase but rather free of charge.

He reaffirmed that the ministry has put systems in place to track the distribution of the textbooks and issued a warning that wrongdoers would face consequences.

The governor gave the kids advice on how to use the textbooks wisely in order to support the donor’s work.

The commissioner had previously received praise from Dr. Elizabeth Animoku, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), for his accomplishments in the field of education since taking office.

She claimed the books had undergone a comprehensive examination by the ministry’s Quality Assurance division and were approved for student usage.

Numerous dignitaries, royal fathers, former students, and other key figures in the field of education were there.

The Chairman of Okene Local Government, Mr. Abdulrasak Mohammad, and the Ohi of Adavi, HRH Alh Muhammad Bello, expressed their gratitude to the donor and the government for the initiative in their goodwill greetings.
