Tunji Wusu –
According to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 12 million families will get N8,000 over the course of six months to lessen the hardships brought on by the elimination of subsidies.
Tuesday’s plenary was the first time Speaker Tajudeen Abbas had read a letter from Tinubu before the House of Representatives. In the letter, Tinubu requested assistance so that vulnerable and underprivileged Nigerians could pay for basic necessities.
The purpose of the letter was to request authorization for increased funding for the National Assembly-scaled national social safety net program.
According to him, this would affect an additional 60 million people.
He declared that digital transfers would be sent straight to beneficiaries’ accounts to ensure the legitimacy of the procedure.
Details will follow.
