Israeli Hamas war

At least 15 people were killed on Saturday when an Israeli strike struck a UN school in Gaza that was housing hundreds of displaced Palestinians, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run territory.

At a news conference, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra stated, “The massacre at the Al-Fakhura school committed by the occupation (Israel) this morning left 15 martyrs and 70 wounded.”

According to the UN organization for Palestinian refugees, a “shelter for displaced families” is being used in the school.

There were tents for displaced families in the schoolyard, and at least one strike occurred there. UNRWA claimed in a statement that “another strike struck inside the school where women were baking bread.”

Regarding the strike on the school in the Jabalia refugee camp, the Israeli military remained silent right first, and AFP was unable to independently verify the casualty toll.

Four of UNRWA’s schools in the Gaza Strip, which house families displaced by the conflict, were destroyed by bombs, the organization said on Thursday.

Out of the 2.4 million people living in the region, an estimated 1.4 million have been displaced in the four weeks of fighting, with many of them crowded into hospitals or schools.

Since Israel began bombarding Gaza on October 7, at least 9,488 people have died there, the bulk of them civilians, according to the health ministry’s report on Saturday.
