The Kano zonal command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully rescued no less than 19 victims of human trafficking.

This was disclosed by Mr. Abdullahi Babale, the agency’s Zonal Commander, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano.

The Joint Border Task Force rescued people in the state between September 13 and September 18, according to Babale, who also added that the alleged trafficker was also apprehended during the joint operation.

He revealed that the states of Abia, Kaduna, Lagos, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Enugu, and Kogi were used to recruit the survivors.

Babale said that the suspect, a native of Kano, was transporting the victims to Libya for commercial sex.

The survivors, who ranged in age from 18 to 32, were victims of both labor exploitation and other crimes.

One male and eighteen female survivors were revealed by the zonal commander.
