Omoyele Sowore, the AAC’s presidential candidate, has pledged to eliminate the Senate and devote less money on religious travel.
At the Arise TV News Presidential Town Hall meeting on Sunday in Abuja, Sowore made this statement.
When asked how he would address the nation’s debt, poor revenue, and deficit, Sowore responded that he would cease squandering money on pointless things.
“But most importantly, we need to talk about our budget and how much money is wasted in this nation. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I want to abolish the Senate so that we can use that money to fund education. I will stop investing in irrelevant things.
Respectfully, I don’t wish to spend a penny on a pilgrimage. I’ll use that money to educate our in-school children before making sure that all current corruption hotspots are closed.
“Make sure our nation is digitalized so that individuals like the accountant general…
We’ll have more than enough cash by the time you pursue them all. Never let anyone convince you that Nigeria lacks money; we do. Our issue is that the wealthy are getting all the money; capitalism benefits the rich while socialism benefits the poor.
Additionally, he stated that various federal agencies and the governors’ security votes will be eliminated.
“Our debt to GDP ratio is under control; the issue is our revenue to GDP, which is caused by the improper capture of our revenues.
“According to the revenue mobilization body RMAFC, federal government entities have N10 trillion in unremitted money to the federal government.
“I’ll pursue that, and I’m also going to repeal the security votes that Nigerian governors and federal agencies currently receive in the amount of N271 billion. You’ll be startled to learn that more than 799 federal departments also collect security contributions; I have no idea who they are defending with them, so I’ll do away with it, he declared.
While he was in their detention in 2018, the AAC presidential candidate made fun of DSS agents, claiming they were too preoccupied watching “BBNaija” to conduct intelligence collection.
In order to address the instability brought on by terrorism and banditry in the nation, he claimed the agency is not doing enough to obtain and analyze intelligence.
Sowore stated that smart people must be appointed to lead intelligence organizations when discussing his program and how he intends to improve the nation’s security condition.
He pointed out that the country’s security agency chiefs are powerless to free the nation from the bands of criminal elements that have seized control of some regions.
“Today, I am not the president of Nigeria. You won’t be talking about places being overrun by bandits if I win the 2019 election since I classified the security issue into three categories.
“Physical security is one. The gathering, analyzing, and application of intelligence are the second aspect. But gathering intelligence depends on having smart people in charge of intelligence gathering organizations.
“I spent five months being held at DSS. Instead of gathering and analyzing intelligence and using it to stop terrorists and bandits, they were there watching BBNaija.
According to him, the country’s security system was created to safeguard the ruling party and the wealthy citizens who view the nation as a business venture.
Therefore, he urged Nigerians to refrain from electing antiquated politicians who have nothing to contribute to rouse the nation from its security and economic stupor.
