Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), recently hosted a town hall meeting in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, as part of his campaign for the 2023 elections.

The academic, student, and youth groups were addressed by Obi when he first invaded Maiduguri on Saturday at the Conference Hall of the Pinnacle Hotels. Later, he traveled to the Barwee Luxury Hotels where he had a similar interaction with a number of women’s groups.

The LP presidential candidate then paid respects to His Royal Highness, Abubakar Ibn Garbai Elkanemi, the Shehu of Borno’s palace.

After a long campaign, Obi asks the Monarch for his favor in order to win the 2023 presidential election on February 25. Obi’s visit was praised by the Shehu of Borno, who also wished him luck in his endeavors.

The traditional chief urged Obi to resuscitate the Lake Chad basin, resume oil development there, and address the problems of insecurity, poverty, and unemployment plaguing the state’s residents if he were to be elected president.

Obi and his group then traveled to Ramat Square, where a sizable gathering of LP supporters had gathered for the Mega Rally.

In order to save Nigeria and Nigerians from the clutches of poverty, corruption, insecurity, and the declining/poor educational system marked by ongoing ASUU strikes, he told the various gatherings that the time had come for all right-thinking eligible voters to cast their ballots for the Obi/Datti movement to become President and Vice President without regard to ethnic or religious sentiments.

He claimed that during the last 24 years of PDP and APC misrule, regular Nigerians suffered from poverty, unemployment, and insecure housing because leaders who had improperly obtained public resources had kept them in their own possession.

If elected, he vowed, all these crimes committed against Nigerians would be eliminated, and the nation and its citizens would be repositioned to reach greater heights, regardless of racial, tribal, or religious considerations.

He added that he will move Nigeria from “Consumption to Production” during his time as president.

“My people, the time has come for all right-thinking eligible voters to cast their ballots for the President and Vice President of the Obi/Datti movement without regard to their ethnic or religious beliefs, so that we can work together to free Nigeria and Nigerians from the grip of poverty, corruption, insecurity, and a failing/poor educational system marked by ongoing ASUU strikes.

Average Nigerians have experienced poverty over the past 24 years of PDP and APC misrule, as many were unable to afford basic foods like bread and sugar. This is in addition to unemployment and insecurity brought on by leaders who misused public funds and were corrupt and self-serving.

“I want to assure you that if given the mandate by supporting me heavily and all LP Candidates from top to bottom during the upcoming general elections, all these atrocities committed against Nigerians would be diminished, as we will collectively reposition the nation and its citizens to greater heights, irrespective of ethnic, tribal, or religious considerations by God’s grace.” Obi declared.

He also bragged that he was the only presidential candidate to visit Biu local government area, the Zonal headquarters of the southern Borno senatorial district, three days ago because he supported the idea of a united and single Nigeria.

Obi assured the populace that a brand-new Nigeria was feasible and said, “We are not going to offer explanations. I won’t point out your starting point or point the finger at others for their mistakes.

Obi, who was welcomed by party officials and candidates for governor Captain Ibrahim Kadafur and Ibrahim Goni Jere, pledged to support the LP in Borno’s upcoming elections.

Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed, Obi’s running mate, Barr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the LP, Aishat Yesufu, a woman activist who is a part of the Obi/Datti Movement, and several party members accompanied Obi to Maiduguri.
