The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in EKiti State has urged candidates and their supporters to behave peacefully before, during, and after the general elections in 2023.
In order to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, the commission is committed, according to Prof. Ayobami Salami, the resident electoral commissioner of INEC in the state, who made this statement.
The Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) acquired in the state have increased from the previous total of 754,886 to 789,318.
Prof. Salami gave a speech in the state capital of Ado Ekiti at the weekend peace agreement signing by political parties and INEC stakeholder conference.
Nine political parties, including the NNPP, APC, and PDP among others, were present to sign the peace accord through their state chairmen, secretaries, and candidates running on their platforms.
The head of INEC stated, “Politicians must enable peace to reign and refrain from making the election a do-or-die situation. We are committed to fair and reliable polls and are unbiased arbiters.
This stakeholders gathering is special since the political party chairmen and secretaries are there to sign a peace pact.
