Ooni of Ife Celebrates Support for Olojo Festival
In anticipation of this year’s Olojo Festival, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has expressed his gratitude to loyal brand sponsors while welcoming new partners. He emphasized the importance of tourism and its socioeconomic relevance during a recent flag-off event for the 2024 festival at his palace in Ife, Osun State. This year’s theme is “Evolving Transformational Domestic Tourism With Community Festivals.”
During his address, the Ooni acknowledged the dedication of sponsors and the state government, stating, “I want to appreciate you all for everything you have been doing. For always responding to my calls. May God bless you and may our ancestors guide you.”
Highlighting the festival’s ancestral and spiritual significance, Oba Ogunwusi described it as a revered cultural event celebrating the first dawn and honoring Ogun, the god of iron and first son of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba people. He noted, “It’s a time for spiritual exercises, prayers, and testimonies,” and explained that the iconic “Aare crown” symbolizes a sacred connection, with numerous prayers during the festival reportedly yielding testimonies of divine intervention.
