Abuja — Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is already positioned to clinch victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as weak and unserious opposition forces.
Adeyanju made the assertion on Sunday via his verified account on X, hours after the announcement of results from the Federal Capital Territory Council elections.
Despite distancing himself from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the activist insisted that unfolding political signals point to a comfortable win for Tinubu in 2027.
In his post, Adeyanju wrote: “Tinubu has won 2027. If you like say I am working for APC, the truth will become obvious next year.
“Unserious people just interested in social media noise and not real opposition work.”
The outspoken lawyer sharply criticized opposition actors, accusing them of prioritizing online engagement over grassroots mobilization and strategic political coordination. According to him, effective opposition requires structured groundwork, coalition-building, and voter engagement — not digital commentary.
His remarks have since ignited conversations across political circles, particularly as analysts begin early projections ahead of the 2027 general elections. While the next presidential poll remains two years away, Adeyanju’s statement underscores growing debate about the strength — or fragility — of Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
Observers say the outcome of the recent FCT council elections may have further reinforced perceptions about the current balance of political power, especially within the nation’s capital.
As political realignments gradually unfold, Adeyanju’s blunt prediction adds fuel to an already intensifying discourse about who truly holds strategic advantage heading into 2027.
