In Abuja, 250 members of the Nigerian armed forces, security services, and intelligence community will take part in the Chief of Defence Staff Half Marathon Championship, which is in its fourth year.
Along with them are both male and female veterans of different security services and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, the committee’s chairman, revealed the information yesterday.
He announced that there would be two races during the event on Saturday, December 9: a 5 kilometer race for veterans and a 25.1 kilometer race for both male and female marathoners.
“To create an avenue for members of Armed Forces and other security agencies and their personnel to engage in competitive sporting activities to improve their skills, discover new talents, and interact with one another,” stated Marquis, was the stated goal of the championship. additionally to maintain the professional rapport that has been developed between them over time.
The event included individual completions in addition to group completions, according to the chairman. It should be noted that 70 male and female veterans of the military and other security services who are 65 years of age or older are anticipated to be included in the veterans’ category.

The chairman warned potential competitors that cheating would not be tolerated and urged them to compete hard but fairly.
