No fewer than 33 people have been taken into custody by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, for a variety of offenses around the state, including kidnapping.
The revelation was given by the outfit’s state commander, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, to reporters yesterday in Akure during a briefing regarding the agency’s operations and the suspects’ apprehension.
According to Adeleye, the suspects were detained on suspicion of perpetrating a variety of crimes, including kidnapping, breaking into homes, motorcycle theft, and people trafficking.
The 33 criminal suspects, in his account, were apprehended from various regions of the state.
“We have finished our investigations on some of them, and they will face legal action while we ensure that the remaining suspects are treated fairly under the law.
Six kidnap suspects are in our custody, and some of their victims are present as well. We also have roughly five individuals who specialize in motorbike theft; they pose as passengers and strike the okada rider in the rear.
