About 69,231 teachers across the country will on Saturday write the Professional Qualifying Examination organized by the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria.
The Federal Government said that the move for all teachers in the country to obtain the TRCN’s professional certificate was meant to enforce sanity in the teaching profession.
It will interest you to know that Oyo state has the highest number of registered teachers with the total number of 5,145 candidates while Lagos follows with 5,107.
Other states with high number of registered candidates are, Kaduna with 4,616 and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with 4,214 while Zamfara State with 397 candidates as the lowest.
The teachers are taking the examination ahead of the December 31 deadline for all teachers in the country to register with the TRCN.
The National Council on Education had set the date for teachers to register with TRCN or disengage from the classrooms by January 1st, 2020.
The Registrar, Prof Josiah Ajiboye, told newsmen in Abuja, that the Computer-Based Test had been designed for holders of Bachelor degrees and National Certificate on Education and that measure had been put in place to curb cheating in all the 47 centers nationwide.
According to Ajiboye measures have been taken to solve challenges encountered in May and that the TRCN is better prepared for the October diet.
