Tunji Wusu –
In the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, a seven-month-old infant named Habibu was discovered dozing on his mother’s back 24 hours after she had been slaughtered by bandits on the Pandogari-Allawa highway.
SS 2 student of the Maryam Babangida Girls’ Science College, Minna, Hauwa Aliyu, and the baby’s mother were among six passengers massacred by bandits who blocked the Pandogari-Allawa road on their way to Sallah, according to sources.
The Daily Trust received confirmation of the incident from Jibril Allawa, the president of the Lakpma Youth Assembly.
Amazingly, the infant was one of the victims of the incident that left six people dead, he claimed. “The baby was found sleeping on his dead mother’s back by vigilantes who went the next day to remove the victims’ remains,” Allawa said.
“The tragedy occurred on June 27; six persons perished. Maryam called to let us know that she will be returning for the Sallah. She insisted on coming home to celebrate the Sallah with us despite our advice to stay at school and do it there.
