Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo convened an emergency security meeting in Lokoja to address escalating tensions between the indigenes of Isanlu and Fulani settlers. The Fulani community had accused Isanlu indigenes of killing one of their own, prompting fears of potential reprisal attacks.
The governor acted swiftly, cutting short his trip to Abuja to attend an award ceremony in order to address the situation. He facilitated a meeting between both parties, aiming to de-escalate the conflict and ensure peace. Following the discussions, both sides agreed to work towards peace, with the governor emphasizing that violence and taking the law into one’s hands would not be tolerated.
