Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta’s team before Alphonso Davies levelled for Bayern. Harry Kane then converted a second-half penalty to give the German side the lead, but Rice struck late to earn Arsenal a point.
Arsenal suffered an early setback when Bukayo Saka picked up a thigh injury in the eighth minute. Eze replaced him and made an immediate impact by scoring in the 25th minute.
The substitute ran onto Martin Odegaard’s pass behind Bayern’s defence and beat Manuel Neuer. Although the assistant referee initially flagged for offside, VAR overturned the decision and confirmed the goal.
Bayern responded 10 minutes later when Davies collected Kane’s through ball and finished past David Raya. The hosts gradually took control but failed to score again before half-time.
Both goalkeepers made important saves after the break. Neuer stopped an Arsenal header, while Raya denied Dayot Upamecano.
Bayern moved ahead in the 61st minute after Kane’s shot struck Jurrien Timber’s arm inside the penalty area. The England captain converted the resulting penalty.
The goal extended Harry Kane’s Champions League scoring streak to 10 consecutive appearances, leaving him one match short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 11.
However, Arsenal refused to give up. Substitute Viktor Gyokeres played a clever pass into Rice’s path, allowing the midfielder to beat Neuer and secure the Champions League draw.
The result marked only the second time Arsenal had dropped points in 12 matches across all competitions this season.
Arteta’s side now have seven points from three Champions League matches, while Vincent Kompany’s Bayern have five points after recording their second consecutive draw in the competition.
