Oyo State Police Command has dismissed the rumor that a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi (a.k.a. Auxiliary) and his wife were murdered by unknown assailants as false.
Auxilliary was alleged to have been killed alongside his wife a few hours after the gruesome killing of a lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Temitope Olatoye (a.k.a. Sugar).
The premier news that the police spokesman, Lawrence Fadeyi, on Sunday described the rumor as a wicked lie aimed at heating up the polity. “Since the news of the death of the House of Representatives member was broken, the police have been on the trail of the assailants.
“We have deployed patrol vehicles to Iwo Road and other parts of Ibadan. Our men have also been placed on red alert. There is no cause for alarm. People should please disregard the rumour flying about, regarding the NURTW boss and wife,” he said.
