Former Italian keeper, Massimo Taibi, has picked his better goalkeeper between Manchester United’s David De Gea and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Taibi, a former AC Milan and Man United shot-stopper believe Donnarumma is a better goalkeeper than De Gea.

The 51-year-old, who is now Serie B side Reggina’s sporting director, said this ahead of Man United’s clash against AC Milan in the Europa League last-16 first-leg tie on Thursday.

De Gea, 30, has been Man United’s first choice since 2011, while Donnarumma, 22, has been a mainstay in the AC Milan goal since breaking through as a teenager in 2015.

When asked to choose a better goalkeeper between De Gea and Donnarumma, Taibi told Football Italia, “They are two great keepers, but I prefer Donnarumma.”

He added on the game between both teams: “It will be an even and open game. Both sides will play attacking football. They have important players, unfortunately, there will be no fans in the stadiums, but we need to adapt to it.

“No, I don’t think so [that United are the favourites]. It will be an even game. They have proved to cope well with absentees, but the same is true of Manchester United. The team that will make fewer mistakes will go through.”
