Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, confirmed that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will not be involved in the game against Aston Villa in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie.
Tuchel revealed that Mendy has not yet participated in Chelsea’s training ahead of the Aston Villa clash, due to the injury he sustained during Chelsea’s Champions League win against Zenit Saint Petersburg last week.
The Senegalese international missed Chelsea’s Premier League 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Aston Villa clash, Tuchel said: “Mendy cannot play [against Villa], he was not in training so far.
“We try to do everything for Saturday and to reintegrate him tomorrow into individual training and Thursday’s team training.”
Tuchel added, “We had some intensive games. We will have some changes. There will be some changes. We take the opportunity to give important minutes and competition to guys who are missing the minutes at the moment.”
