Jacob Wisdom Chukwuemeka, a professional football player, was found guilty and given a six-year prison sentence by a Federal High Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, for offenses involving computer fraud and the possession of illicit cash.

Chukwuemeka, who was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCCIlorin )’s Zonal Command, was found guilty on Monday, October 3, after entering a plea to two counts involving the possession of illicit funds.

The charge’s first count reads: “That you, Jacob Wisdom Chukwuemeka, between the dates of May 6, 2021, and April 22, 2022, within the territorial jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, did retain control of the gross amount of N792,454.00 in your bank account maintained with First Bank Plc, which you knew to be the proceeds of criminal conduct, and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Sections 17(a) and (b) of the Economic and Financial Crimes
