Hon. Wemi Jones, the commissioner for education, science, and technology for the state of Kogi, has revealed that 3,100 of the 6,900 applicants who took the test for teacher recruitment passed it.

The State’s Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, addressed the applicants at GYB Model Science Secondary School in Lokoja and congratulated them on reaching it to the oral interview stage.

3,979 posts need to be filled, yet 17,485 people applied. 6,900 applicants were shortlisted for the aptitude test, and 3100 of them passed with a score of 40% or higher. Therefore, 3100 applicants will receive calls for oral interviews across the state’s 21 local government areas.

He stated, “Our goal is to interview no more than 500 people per day through next week’s Tuesday, including Saturday.”
Out of the 3100 candidates who will be interviewed, he noted, 1579 teachers would be hired in the initial phase.

On Wednesday, the Kogi State Government began the oral interviews for those who had passed the state’s aptitude test for hiring secondary school teachers.

He praised the Governor for giving them the chance to conduct full, open, transparent, participative, and all-encompassing teacher recruitment.

The commissioner emphasized that there had been no political interference in the transparent hiring procedures.

He stated that individuals who applied for Animal Husbandry, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Food & Nutrition and received a score of 40% or higher on the aptitude test were the invited candidates for Wednesday.
The commissioner explained that the candidates will be evaluated at the interview on their work history, personal appearance, communication abilities, and level of question-answer quality.

He urged individuals who received a score of 40% or more but had not yet received notification of their interview to not worry, telling them that they will undoubtedly hear from the interview before Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

He encouraged the contestants to behave impeccably and not get into any mischief.

He wished everyone well and hoped that at the end of the day they would all laugh and be proud of themselves.

Mrs. Joy Adeiza, one of the applicants, thanked the State Government and the Ministry for ensuring a transparent hiring process when she spoke with our correspondent.
3,800 teachers in Kogi failed the recruitment test.
