Leroy Sane and Manuel Neuer, the captain of Bayern Munich, will miss Wednesday’s German Cup match against Augsburg, according to coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Neuer, who has missed Bayern’s last two games due to a shoulder injury, tore a muscle fiber in the 5-0 victory against Freiburg on Sunday and is anticipated to be out for up to three weeks. Sane, however, will likely be out for longer.

Nagelsmann, who was hesitant to “walk the tightrope” of bringing Manu back too soon, stated that Manu was still experiencing some pain. Nagelsmann expressed his hope that the German goalie would be available for the weekend match against Hoffenheim.
“Every premature game (may) result in setbacks. The crucial choice can only be made by (Neuer). We’re not going to gamble.”
Sane, one of Bayern’s most effective players, was “annoyingly” absent, according to Nagelsmann, who called it questionable.
According to Nagelsmann, “(muscle fiber injuries) tend to be two or three weeks, maybe more like three weeks.”
Because he rarely has muscular injuries, “we don’t have much experience with this with him.
Thomas Muller is expected to make a full recovery from a back injury, although he will sit on the sidelines to begin.
Muller “made enormous improvement from yesterday to today,” according to Nagelsmann. He most certainly won’t begin. We’ll have to wait and see how he feels about today’s lesson. He will travel the following day and sit on the sidelines.
Bayern, who holds the record for most German Cup victories (20), has lost at this level the last two seasons, most recently losing 5-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach.
