The Ompovan Ibaa, Emouha Local Government Area of the state has reported the deaths of two individuals who were reportedly members of the dissolved vigilante organization OSPAC, according to the Rivers State Police Command.
The members of the disbanded local security group were ambushed at a congested roadway in the neighborhood and shot dead by the attackers, according to sources who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter.
They claimed that the incident caused mayhem in the neighborhood as locals scurried for safety.
What I can say is that they are all cultists, one of them said.
They might have been seeking revenge for the death of one of their soldiers.
“It is very sad that there have been so many killings in Emuoha local government, especially in Ibaa. Nobody is aware of a new suspect. The evil things happening here are too much; let the government and security authorities help.
The event has been the subject of an investigation, according to the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, who verified it to our correspondent.
She added that once police officers were sent to the area to prevent any security breaches, calm had restored.
“We are aware of the occurrence, and a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine what actually took place and identify the suspects.
The state police image maker declared, “For the time being, our men are in the community and normalcy has been restored.”
However, she urged locals to report shady people and behavior to the nearest police station so that immediate action could be taken.
