After touring the Duport Energy Park, a project of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and Duport Midstream Company Limited in the state’s Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki pledged his support on Monday.

According to a release, the Energy Park contains over 100 RAM data centers, a 60 million scf gas processing plant, a 50 megawatt plant, and a 10,000 barrel per day refining capability.

The facility, which was built in response to Obaseki’s administration’s changes to make doing business easier, is the second refinery to be finished in the state after the 6000 bpd Edo Refinery, which was built by AIPCC Energy Limited and Peiyang Chemical Equipment Company Limited.

We want to say again how much we appreciate what you are doing because this project is unique and has our full support. This is the first Energy Park on the continent and in Nigeria. We in Edo State are now luring investors to use that output locally because of the advantages and benefits that come with having onshore oil and gas production. It is our intention to utilise every bit of crude oil and gas generated in Edo State domestically rather than export it.

The purpose of this park is to collect all the oil and gas production from nearby fields; the oil is separated and refined into various goods, and the gas is used and processed to produce and sell electricity. We must deregulate in a matter of months, which will result in lower gas prices.
