2023: PDP requests that the court remove Tinubu, the Adamu-led APC NWC, and all APC candidates.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), headed by Abdullahi Adamu, has been requested to resign by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja due to irregularities in the selection of the party’s national officers and candidates.

In the current lawsuit, PDP claimed that all candidates presented by APC for the 2023 general elections be removed from the race since they were allegedly presented in contravention of both the Electoral Act of 2022 and the 1999 Constitution.

The lawsuit was brought by Mr. Ayo Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) on behalf of the PDP in response to a Federal High Court decision from September 30, 2022, which declared all of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s actions and activities in her capacity as the head of the APC’s Extraordinary Convention Committee to be illegal, unlawful, and unconstitutional.
Justice Inyang Ekwo has been given the new lawsuit, with the filing number FHC/ABJ/CS/1864/2022, by Justice John Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, for consideration and adjudication.
According to information obtained, Justice Ekwo set November 22 for the case’s mention and directed that hearing notices be delivered to each of the 53 defendants named by PDP in the lawsuit at their individual addresses.

According to the court document that was made public on Wednesday, the APC’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kashim Shetima, and all other governorship candidates are named in the request for disqualification from the 2023 election on the grounds that their nominations violate the Constitution and electoral laws.

The party’s candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives are also included in the appeal for exclusion from the general elections of 2023 for the identical grounds.
