Abia 2023: APC Leaders Say Ogah Is On His Own

The former minister of mines and steel development, Dr. Uche Ogah, is reportedly pursuing the APC governorship ticket on his own, according to APC leaders in Abia State.

This was said yesterday while Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, the state’s APC chairman, and Chief Chidi Avajah, the party’s secretary, spoke to reporters in Umuahia, the state capital.

It was noted that Ogah’s presence in Umuahia to celebrate a court decision that gave him the ticket last Friday was avoided by members of the state working committee of the APC in the state.

It is ironic, according to Ononogbu, that Ogah, who moved his case to Abuja under the guise of “security challenges in Abia,” has now come back to the same Abia to celebrate what he perceives to be a court triumph.

He claimed that Ogah had made it quite plain that he had no affection for the state’s residents and was indifferent to their suffering at the hands of the PDP, which was in power.

He questioned the justification for celebrating “a phony ticket,” which would do him no good, and said that Ogah’s activities were directed at helping those keeping the state down to maintain their grasp.

We are aware of the source of the horrible music that he and his deluded supporters are dancing to, but he assured them that his party was stronger than these instigators of diversion and instability.

In addition to calling Ogah’s announced plan to run for office a pipedream, Ononogbu noted that it was similar to building a house in the air because he lacks a party basis to support such a political effort.

Avajah also expressed regret that the former minister would remain steadfast in pursuing personal interests at the expense of the state, even Abia, a state that is desperate to be freed from corrupt leadership.

High Chief Ikechi Emenike is the APC’s candidate for governor in the state’s governor election in 2023, he noted. “The party has duly made its choice,” he said.

“Ignore Ogah and his gang of mischief makers and forge ahead with the task of winning the poll under the leadership of Emenike,” he pleaded with the state’s residents and members who are dedicated to its liberation.
