BUHARI WANTS TO MAKE THE SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAM LEGITIMATE.

On Tuesday, Nigeria’s President, Major General Muhanmadu Buhari (retired), called for the Social Investment Programme to be made legal and institutionalized.

Through several letters, the Senate was also asked to establish ten new national parks across the nation. On behalf of the Social Investment Programme, Buhari urged that the Senate take into account and pass an executive law that had been forwarded to it.

In the letter read in front of the Senate by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, he noted that the bill’s consideration and passage will create the enabling legislation necessary for the program aimed at reducing poverty among vulnerable Nigerians to be implemented successfully.

“The National Social Investment Programme Formation Bill strives to provide a legislative and institutional framework for the establishment of the NSIP for the support and empowerment of the poor and vulnerable people in Nigeria,” the speaker stated.

Regarding national parks, the President requested Senate approval of the National Park Declaration Order issued earlier in the year for the construction of 10 additional national parks across the nation in a letter that was also read in assembly by Lawan.

Buhari requested the National Library Establishment Bill 2022 be taken into consideration and passed in two other separate proposals.

According to him, the proposed bill will give Nigeria’s National Library the legal foundation it needs to be maintained in accordance with international standards.

The president’s final appeal to Congress focused on the discussion and approval of an executive bill on the Federal Produce Inspection Service.
