On Monday, the Oyo State Government donated an extra set of 120 generators to the State’s primary healthcare facilities.
Recall that on November 8, 2022, the Oyo State Government gave several PHCs in the state 97 or so generating sets.
The Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board hosted the symbolic presentation in association with Lanocks Construction.
The delivery of generators to Oyo state Primary Healthcare Centers is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s initiative to renovate/upgrade one (1) Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) per ward (there are 351 wards in Oyo state) to the standard category-three PHC, according to Engr. Ademola Aderinto, who spoke at the presentation.
“Over 200 freshly renovated PHCs, as well as several newly built PHCs, have resulted from this initiative, which began in 2021,” he stated.
“Today The Lanocks construction business provided 120 generators, including the 5 generators that had already been delivered, to the Primary Healthcare Board for the Primary Healthcare Centers in Oyo state. The first batch of generators was sent to the PHCs about a month ago; this second batch will increase the total number of generators given to the PHCs as a result of this initiative to 219,” he stated.
Aderinto said that the Oyo State Governor’s Office, the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, and the Oyo State Ministry of Health all contributed to the project’s inception.
In addition to sinking boreholes to assure a consistent supply of water for the PHCs and the community through taps put outside the PHCs, he noted that one of the project’s objectives is to deploy generators for energy delivery to all renovated centers.
He claimed that the communities of Oyo State had positively accepted the State’s initiative to modernize its Primary Healthcare Centers.
He commended Dr. Funmi Salami, who is the project leader and chairperson of the renovation committee as well as the special adviser to the governor on health, whose contributions have resulted in enormous success.
All citizens of Oyo state should have access to healthcare, according to Muideen Olatunji, executive secretary of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board.
