Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has stated that if he wins the 2023 presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari will not attend his inauguration ceremony.
Sowore claimed this in an interview with Politics Hub, a political show on Vanguard Online TV, on Friday.
During the conversation, the AAC presidential candidate told the show’s anchor, Damilola Ogunsakin, that he intends to become Nigeria’s president rather than succeed Buhari.
“When I win the election, Buhari will not come to the inauguration,” he declared. I honestly believe that some of them would have fled before the day of swearing-in. I simply want you (Buhari) to understand that you have a fundamental obligation to pass over authority.”
Meanwhile, Sowore denied supporting Buhari prior to his election as Nigeria’s president.
“I never backed Buhari,” Sowore responded when asked when he quit supporting Buhari. You can never quit supporting someone you never supported before. Over the years, a well-funded campaign has tried to blackmail me by claiming that I supported Buhari because I opposed Goodluck Jonathan.

“The 2019 election was the first time I voted in this country, and maybe in the globe,” he remarked.
