Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has responded to the claim that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, made.
whereby Atiku claimed he was unconcerned by the plans of the G-5 governors—five resentful governors—to support a presidential candidate other than the PDP.
In his opinion, Atiku is an elephant who has experienced everything, and before any one can claim to have stopped Atiku, he or she must first become president of Nigeria.
When responding on Friday at the groundbreaking for the Eneka-Igbo Etche Road, Wike questioned why his detractors (Atiku’s camp) are displaying such high blood pressure over G5 problems that they have deemed to be “unimportant.”
When they told Nigerians they weren’t concerned about G-5 governors, he demanded to know why they are now bothered.
Wike, who stated that no one could harm him, cautioned his political opponents that trouble was still to come.
The governor of Rivers, however, denied rumors that the G-5 governors had made an agreement with a presidential candidate.
“We’ll go swimming, you’re worried, but you tell Nigerians you’re not bothered,” he said. They claimed I had a conversation with the BBC, but where are the pictures and videos? We no longer have journalists; instead, we have pressmen. You can see folks who are unable to provide correct information. Newspapers and television stations are increasingly running and standing for office….
“I will do something if I want to. You are not required to speculate. They say there is trouble, but there isn’t. What we have now is a foreshadowing of what is to come. Please, my dear folks, do not cross the border.
What is your issue with that, they responded, adding that we had a meeting with someone. Ask Atiku if he hasn’t met with the APC governors. Don’t we already know what is going on since he is in Dubai?
“So, why do you care about us? The G- 5 governors claimed you could succeed without us. Please be silent.
“Leave me alone, Seyi Makinde alone, Ortom alone, Ikpeazu alone, Ugwuanyi alone, and concentrate on your problems.
“My dear people, I simply wanted to let you know that I will keep you informed of any decision I make. I am unable to make any decisions without your input.
I don’t go looking for someone to hide from. Who am I avoiding? Who is the threat I shall receive? He stated he would fire me; feel free; I won’t be concerned. You who is being fired is concerned.
