Olawale Ashimi, better known by his stage name Brymo, is a well-known Nigerian singer who maintains that South-east Nigeria isn’t yet ready to produce a president.

The singer caused controversy on Thursday by implying that Nigeria’s Igbo people are not ready for the presidency.

Brymo had previously criticized Peter Obi’s supporters, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

He described the “Obidient” movement, which labels Mr. Obi’s supporters as one that portends doom, in August 2022.

Brymo stated in a series of Tweets that the word “obedience” implies being commanded.

“I Will Not Participate In The Festering Of Tyrannical Leanings… you, too, are exhibiting symptoms of it; insist on your way without explanation!”

In a recent development, a Nigerian-British comedian, KlintonCod, made a post last week advocating for better leadership by supporting Mr Obi.

Brymo, who had unambiguously backed All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu, responded by telling him to shut up or go home.

In the ensuing debate, a Twitter user, @hunkyhugoh, stated that Mr Obi is the best candidate to lead Nigeria.
