Ndubisi Uwadiegwu, of Enugu State, is accused of murdering his wife, Ogochukwu Enene, over a loaf of bread.
According to reports, the deceased was born in Umuokpu village, Awka, Anambra State, but married to a man from Enugu State.
According to an online notice obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, the deceased’s first son, who is 14 years old, claimed his father beat their mother to death with a mirror because she asked him to buy bread for them but he said he didn’t have any money.
The son added that his mother decided to use her money to buy one loaf of bread for the children, but the father went into the kitchen and ate the entire loaf, and when their mother asked him why he finished the bread, he began beating her, which led to her death.
Although the deceased’s family members have yet to issue an official statement about the incident, a source close to the family confirmed to our correspondent that it occurred in Lagos.
According to the source, the deceased was the Senior Prefect of Amenyi Girls Secondary School in the year 2000.
“Please, Ndi Awka umunnem Old girls Association of GSSA Ogochukwu needs justice,” she said.
“This is ADA Awka by name Ogochukwu Anene from Umuokpu village Awka,” the online notice said.
She was married to Mr Ndubisi Uwadiegwu of Enugu State, who beat her to death and plans to bury her without properly informing her people.
“Ogo had five children, four boys and one girl. The first son, who is 14 years old, stated that their father used a mirror to beat their mother because she asked him to buy bread for them and he said he didn’t have any money.
“So when their mom used her money and got one loaf of bread, the father went to the kitchen and finished the whole bread and when she asked him why he finished the whole bread without keeping any for the children, he started beating her, leading to her death.
“In the year 2000, Ogochukwu Anene was the Senior Prefect of Amenyi Girls Secondary School.”
