According to the Lagos State Police Command, 405 robbery suspects were apprehended and 51 others were killed during an exchange of gunfire between 2021 and 2022.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the figures to the News Agency of Nigeria while speaking about the command’s accomplishments.
According to Hundeyin, 245 suspects were arrested and 25 were killed in 17 robbery incidents in 2021, while 160 were arrested and 26 were killed in 20 incidents in 2022.
He stated that 350 robberies were foiled during the review period, with 169 in 2021 and 181 in 2022.
According to the spokesman, 206 arms and 775 rounds of ammunition were recovered during the period, with 108 arms and 348 rounds recovered in 2021 and 98 arms and 427 rounds recovered in 2022.
Hundeyin stated that 262 suspected cultists were arrested from 32 cultism cases recorded during the period, with 128 arrested from 18 cases in 2021 and 134 others arrested from 14 cases in 2022.
He stated that 206 murder cases were recorded in 2022, compared to 192 in 2021, and that the number of suicide cases increased from 25 in 2021 to 30 in 2022.
According to the spokesman, three police officers were killed in the command during the period, with each year recording ten attacks.
He stated that with the arrest of three suspects, kidnapping cases decreased from five in 2021 to two in 2022.
Hundeyin stated that 35 vehicles were recovered during the period, with 10 recovered in 2021 and 25 recovered in 2022.
He stated that the remaining 32 stolen vehicles reported to the command had not yet been recovered.
