AIRPORT STAFF VIOLATED A COURT ORDER BY INTERFERING WITH FLIGHT OPERATIONS, ACCORDING TO NAHCO

In response to the ongoing strike at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCo) criticized its employees for taking part in the strike despite a court injunction prohibiting them from doing so.

Hundreds of travellers were left detained at the airport on Monday morning when NAHCo employees went on strike over reported problems with salary payments.

However, NAHCo indicated in a press release issued by the firm on Monday, a copy of which was provided to THE PREMIER NEWS, that it has begun speaking with the disgruntled unions and their members in an effort to stop the disruption of flight services.

However, NAHCo admitted that some of its clients were being placed in a challenging situation as a result of some workers’ determination on going on strike.

The group executive director, Dr. Olusola Obabori, said, “We regret for the inconveniences,” and added, “The Company is already engaging the Unions and other stakeholders and are certain the problem will be handled within hours.”

We comprehend the power of negotiating, he continued. The company, which arguably offers the greatest benefits among regional aviation operators, will go above and beyond to ensure the happiness of both its employees and its clients.

The workforce, the business, and its prized clients will all suffer as a result of this issue, thus it needs to be rectified quickly.

Recall that last week, NUATE and ATSSSAN, two aviation unions, sent NAHCo management a five-day strike warning due to the poor pace of pay review negotiations.

The company, which just promoted roughly 2,000 of its employees, requested that rapid negotiations continue in February so that it can recover financially from the impact of the promotions.
