As the new Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the Northeast, Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Sambo Ali has replaced Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa.

For 18 months, Musa oversaw the counterinsurgency operations in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states in the Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region.

General Musa stated that “there is much to be done by troops in routing the remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents in the Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region” while revealing the handing over exercise yesterday (Saturday) at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

He continued by saying that the nation, particularly the northeast, is depending on the forces’ accomplishments there to bring about peace.

As General Ali is aware of the challenging terrain in the Theatre when putting an end to the war, he claimed that “our troops on the frontlines are more equipped than the terrorists” in restoring peace in the three states in the region that have been afflicted by the insurgency.

He said that no progress could be made unless there was a return to peace and security for people’s lives and property.

“All hands must be on deck to restore peace in the region if we are to succeed in the theater of war,” he continued.

Therefore, he expressed gratitude to the stakeholders, other security agencies, and the administration of Borno State for their cooperation and assistance in the struggle against terrorism and other criminal activity.

General Musa has tried, and we will carry on where he left off in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations, General Ali said as he bid farewell to him as the new Commander, Infantry Corps, Kaduna.

He said that the Nigerian Army needs the assistance of the State government, the populace, and other security agencies in the war against terrorism.

As the new Commander of OPHK in the Northeast, Maj-Gen. Lander Saraso replaced Maj-Gen. Koko Isoni in Yobe state on Saturday in Damaturu.

He praised General Isoni for his role in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations, praising his use of the various Army formations’ infrastructure.

Additionally, he asked officers and soldiers to support and assist the Army Command in the State.

This will allow him to continue building on the accomplishments of his predecessor, Isoni, he said.

Isoni encouraged the troops to support his successor more fervently while praising them for their bravery on the front lines.

He claims that doing so will allow him to complete his task in the Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region without incident.

He advised them to maintain their commitment and professionalism and to abstain from wrongdoing of any kind, including criminal activity.

“I expressed my gratitude to Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff, for giving me the chance to serve as the Deputy Theatre Commander, OPHK.
