MANCHESTER CITY CHARGED BY PREMIER LEAGUE FOR ALLEGEDLY BREACHING FINANCIAL REGULATIONS

The Premier League has accused Manchester City of breaking financial regulations. last Monday.

The judgment follows a four-year probe, and City may be penalized for financial rules violations over a nine-season span.

In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has referred to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4 a number of alleged violations of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club (Club).

According to the league, the infractions occurred between the 2009–10 season and the 2017–18 campaign. City won the Premier League three times during this span, in 2012, 2014, and 2018.

If found guilty, Pep Guardiola’s team might suffer severe repercussions, such as losing points or perhaps being kicked out of the league.

City is also accused of breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability standards from the 2015–16 to 2017–18 seasons as well as the laws requiring clubs to obey UEFA’s financial fair play criteria from the 2013–14 to 2017–18 seasons.

Following the 0-1 loss to Tottenham, City is now in second in the league standings with 45 points, trailing only leader Arsenal.
