Oshiomhole wails in pain Adams Oshiohmole, a former governor of Edo State, bemoaned the nationwide increase in gas prices at the pump.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader claimed to have recently purchased a litre of fuel for N1,000 during an interview with Channel Television on Sunday, February 5.
He claimed, “I once ran out of fuel and had to pay N1,000 for a litre. That is not funny at all! There is a person behind that. We are currently spending close to N7 trillion.
The finance minister brought up the fact that although we spend around N7 trillion on fuel subsidies, the majority of Nigerians still end up paying far more than what would be the market rate even though we have the Petroleum Equalization Fund.
People are therefore to blame for this. He described the situation as a “perennial crisis” and claimed that fuel scarcity is not unique to President Buhari’s administration. However, he continued, “that does not make it appropriate.”
