On Monday night, there was unrest in the Okehi local government area of Kogi when some rumored gunmen allegedly blew up the local administration offices.

Remember that an explosion that killed people in Kogi in January was allegedly sponsored by the Boko Haram offshoot that receives support from the Islamic State, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd.

In the local government region, the administrative offices are close to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office.

The blast also destroyed homes worth millions of Nigerian Naira. Yet, sources claim that no lives were lost.

The local Divisional Police Officer, Yakubu Ovanja, was not reachable when contacted at the time this complaint was filed.

The Kogi State Government has also not yet responded to the development, and our reporter’s attempts to acquire their perspective on the matter were unsuccessful.
