Hajiya Saratu Umar’s appointment as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has been canceled by President Muhammadu Buhari with immediate effect.
Femi Adesina, the president’s special media and publicity adviser, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.
The presidential choice was announced without explanation.
According to Adesina, the president has instructed the honorable Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, to immediately assume interim leadership as the Commission’s most senior Director.
The turmoil that pitted Umar against her top officers and impacted the work of the commission is over with the firing of Umar.
Umar, who served as the NIPC’s leader for for eight months, has also been accused of inefficiency and poor management.
