On April 10, 2023, Nigerian soldiers from Sector 3 of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) freed Yakura Jalori, a seven-year-old girl who had been taken hostage by alleged Boko Haram and ISWAP militants.

According to a statement from MNJTF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke, the troops attacked the terrorists while on a fighting patrol, killed three of them, and freed the child.

He claimed that the soldiers had taken N54,104 from the terrorists as well as an AK-47 rifle, a magazine for the weapon, and four rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

Three mobile phones, two cutlasses, a digger, three Sim cards, and a torch light are among the additional goods that have been found.

The kidnap victim and her family have been reunited by the military.

Another development was when 242 Bn soldiers stopped Aisha Muhammad and her seven children on the Maiduguri-Monguno Road, according to Adegoke.

Aisha is thought to be the wife of Mustapha, a tailor who lives in the jihadists’ compound near Tumbun Gini. Sector 3 MNJTF has custody of the woman and her kids.

In a related development, a grenade explosion on April 14, 2023, at the Fulatari IDP Camps in Monguno injured two people.

The inquiry revealed that a 13-year-old child named Adamu Muhammad brought the grenade charger home from the former Charlie 6 facility.

Muhammad was playing when he hit the grenade with a metal plate, setting it off.

Following the event, the Explosive Ordnance Devices Team had to scan and secure the area while the forces had to cordon it off.

BHT/ISWAP terrorists were also encountered by Sector 3 MNJTF (Nigeria) forces on April 11 while conducting a patrol to Amburam and nearby BHT/ISWAP strongholds.

The soldiers demolished several shelters with a lot of food and other supplies as well as four motorcycles.

Additionally, two terrorists were eliminated, along with two AK-47s, 243 x 762 mm x 54 mm ball ammunition, and 89 x 5.56 mm x 45 mm ball ammunition.

While on a combined patrol with the Quick Reaction Force around the Island of Kajuiwa, Sector 4 Diffa (Niger) troops captured 28 cows and 200 rams from the terrorists.

Five canoes, 25 carts, and many bags of fish owned by the terrorists were also destroyed.
