“Their return involves more than just making amends.”

The British Museum has more than 200 Asante gold artifacts and other Ghanaian ceremonial items in its collection.

The Asante chief of Ghana is currently pressuring the museum to give them back.

The artefacts were captured during the 1874 conflict with the British from the Asante palace in Kumasi.

After witnessing King Charles III’s Coronation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, had a chat with the director of the museum.

The museum said that it was “exploring the possibility of lending items” to Ghana after facing pressure in recent years to return pieces in its collection to their countries of origin.
