The city of Nottingham in central England was evacuated by British police on Tuesday after three bodies were discovered there and a van attempted to run over three more people.
Police reported that a 31-year-old male had been detained on suspicion of murder and that they were also looking into the incident involving the van, which they suspected to be connected.
Just after 4:00 am (0300 GMT), police were contacted after two bodies were discovered on the street. Another area also yielded the body of a male.
According to a police statement, the three individuals involved in the vehicle incident were receiving medical treatment.
Glen Gretton, a local homeowner, claimed that the sound of several police cars passing his house at around 5:00 in the morning awakened him.
“I noticed a police car passing by. The 46-year-old delivery guy stated it was moving really swiftly, then another one, then another.
They kept coming, so he deduced that a significant event was taking place close to the city center.
Three persons lost their life in this horrifying and tragic occurrence, according to Chief Constable Kate Meynell.
We have a man in jail and we think these three incidents are connected, she continued.
The city center of Nottingham was blocked off and heavily policed in television footage of the city.
