With effect from January 2024, professional organisations and councils would no longer receive budgetary allocations, according to the Federation’s Budget Office.
According to the Presidential Committee on Salaries’ (PCS) approval of the “discontinuation of budgetary allocation” to “professional bodies & councils,” the budget office memo dated June 26, 2023 to the Nigerian Council of Food Science & Technology.
The Director General of the Federation Ministry of National Planning’s Budget Office signed the viral document.
According to him, the 13th meeting of the Presidential Committee on Salaries, which authorized the new policy, resulted in the termination of financial allocation.
This letter’s intent is to let you know that, in accordance with PCS’s order, this office will cease providing budgetary support to your institution as of the aforementioned date and that you will be treated as a self-funded organization.
