The extension of the Eid al-Kabir celebrations to Friday has been ordered by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.
According to a press release issued on Thursday by Jibrin Yusuf on behalf of Ahmed Abdullahi, the acting head of the civil service in Gombe, the intention behind the gesture was to make sure that local employees could celebrate with their counterparts across the country.
“I am directed to inform you that His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, (Dan Majen Gombe) has approved the extension of the Public Holiday to Friday, June 30, 2023 to enable Civil Servants in the State to continue the Celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir with their counterparts nationwide,” Yusuf’s statement stated in part.
He stated that crucial service would be maintained and wished them a good homecoming by Monday.
“All Workers and the General Public are wished a quiet holiday by the Acting Head of Civil Service.
The worker will return to work on Monday, July 3, 2023, please, and all essential services will be maintained throughout the public holiday.
