Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, the first minister of the Federal Capital Territory, reportedly passed away.

The 96-year-old business tycoon passed away on July 1, 2023.

Oluremi Ajose-Adeogun, a family member, confirmed his passing in a statement she made on the family’s behalf and that our correspondent was able to get on Monday.

“The family of Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun has announced the passing to the eternal glory of their patriarch, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, FCIS, CON, JP,” it stated.

“During his tenure as the FCT minister, he was in charge of the Master Plan of Abuja and was nominated as the Minister by the military government of General Muritala Mohammed.

“Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun had meritoriously served as a two-term Federal Commissioner for Cooperatives and Supply in August 1975 before he was named the FCT minister.

“He was later appointed as the Federal Commissioner for Special Duties, Federal Capital Development Authority,” the statement continued.

Ajose-Adeogun held the position of chief of Ita-Aladan, Obun Eko, and Isale Eko in Lagos until his passing. He also had a prominent career at Shell Petroleum Development Company as well as in manufacturing and real estate.
