A new group of leaders has developed as a result of the struggle for majority main offices in the National Assembly’s upper house.

The leaders, who are all members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged by consensus, according to the senate president, Godswill Akpabio.

When the senate’s plenary session reopened on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, following a three-week break, Akpabio made this announcement.
