Festus Keyamo, a former minister of state for labor and employment, has been added by President Bola Tinubu to the list of nominees for ministerial positions.

In addition, the president has replaced Maryam Shetty, a ministerial nominee from Kano State, with Mairiga Mahmood Bongunu.

This was said in a letter from Mr. Tinubu that was read aloud in plenary on Friday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Mr. Keyamo’s addition to the list brings the total of the second round of nominees the president submitted to the Senate to 20. Additionally, it increased the number of nominations overall from 47 to 48.

On July 27, Mr. Tinubu submitted a list of 28 candidates from 25 states. He sent a second batch of 19 names to the upper chamber on Wednesday for ratification.

Mr. Keyamo, a senior attorney for Nigeria from Delta State, served as minister of state for the Niger Delta ministry and then the ministry of labor and employment under the Buhari government.

During the most recent election, he also worked as a spokesperson for the APC/Tinubu-Shettima presidential campaign.
