Tunji Wusu –
Rev. Fr. Magnus Ebere, a Catholic priest, has cautioned against using military action to resolve the conflict in the Niger Republic.
According to Ebere, the ECOWAS forces’ use of force will have unimaginable repercussions throughout the region, especially in Nigeria.
He revealed this to attendees at the Canaanland Adoration Counselling Centre in Onicha, in the Imo State local government of Ezinihitte Mbaise.
He claimed that past experience had demonstrated that utilizing such military force had never produced the desired outcome in a crisis situation.
Ebere argued that starting an unnecessary conflict with the coup plotters in Niger would make things worse.
The cleric added that if military force is utilized, Nigeria will suffer the most because there is only one way out of this predicament: discussion, not war.
The cleric urged Tinubu to focus on Nigerian issues rather than international ones.
He said that the best course of action for the ECOWAS nations was to engage in diplomatic negotiations with the coup leaders in Niger.
The priest pleaded with Tinubu to do something about Nigeria’s increasing hunger, dreadful depression, and other sufferings. He claimed that things are becoming worse every day.
He also criticized Tinubu for removing the oil subsidy too quickly.
He claimed that rather than remaining at the swearing-in event and embarrassing the entire country, the president should have moved into his office first, studied the surroundings, and assembled his cabinet and economic experts who would have guided and directed him on the best course of action.
Fr. Ebere claims that Tinubu intended to claim credit for Peter Obi’s manifesto since during the campaign, Peter Obi called the gasoline subsidy a racket and promised to get rid of it if he won. Without considering Peter Obi’s mindset, the President hastily canceled the subsidy without offering a substitute in order to gain some quick popularity.
Topfaith School is one of the institutions with the fastest growth, according to Gabriel Egbe, registrar of the University of Calabar, who also stated that the owner has had a significant impact on society’s educational system.
“However, I should point out that success has its own difficulties. Create a mindset that enables you to manage success. Remember that the first graduation ceremony began with only 23 pupils several years ago and that the number has climbed to 170 in 2023. Don’t get inebriated and enraged by the amount of success when it comes unexpectedly, he said.
